Join USGBC-Illinois for a full-day, hands-on workshop, LEED BD+C version 4 - Beyond the Requirements.

The founding partners of Prairie Lab – an innovative professional education provider – along with YR&G Sustainability, present a facilitated brainstorming and problem-solving workshop in an innovative, immersive learning experience.  Through facilitated discussion and collaboration, attendees will learn skills and processes that form a critical foundation for successful integrative design while exploring LEED version 4.

In a departure from LEED 2009, LEED v4 includes both major and minor changes. Learn the technical requirements of LEED v4 and strategies for successful projects. Expert facilitators will leave you armed with sound advice for implementing LEED effectively so your projects can achieve certifications and be exemplars of true sustainability and integrative design. Following the Prairie Lab immersive education model, this workshop is organized around interactive exercises and group discussions that follow a real project case study.

Learning objectives:

  1. Describe the substantive credit changes in LEED version 4
  2. Apply LEED version 4 credit concepts to case studies
  3. Develop a building design process around systems thinking and integrative design
  4. Recognize tools and resources that enable high performance building design
Facilitators: LEED Fellows, Michelle Halle Stern of Prairie Lab and Jenny Carney of YR&G
