Homes 301: Implementing the LEED for Homes Rating System (Approved for 7.0 GBCI LEED, Specific Homes and 7.0 AIA/CES (HSW/SD/LU)

In today’s business, LEED is the language of green. If you are attending the Greening the Heartland conference, and wish to continue the residential track from Monday, this workshop is for you!

Attendees will apply the LEED for Homes rating system through the phases and key decision points of a typical project.  This process based workshop will be relevant for those pursuing certification under the current version as well as the future version of LEED V4.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Laureen Blissard, USGBC Faculty™ member and experienced Green Rater from the television show “Built to Last: The Green Home”.  Participants will also work hands-on with LEED implementation strategies and rating system tools.

Workshop will end with a networking opportunity including drinks and a beautiful rooftop view of Chicago from the river.

Learning Objectives:
  • Communicate the unique aspects of LEED for Homes
  • Apply the LEED for Homes assessment and verification tools
  • Communicate the roles and responsibilities of various players in the LEED for Homes process
  • Identify key green decisions throughout the process of earning LEED for Homes certification
  • Understand the minor process differences with LEED for Homes v4
Prerequisites:
As this workshop will not be an overview of the LEED for Homes rating system but rather the process, it is highly recommended that attendees become familiar with LEED for Homes.  There is a short 200 level webinar available for $35 as well as a "HOMES 252: Understanding LEED for Homes" live workshop on August 22nd in Park Ridge, Illinois.
