Loyola University Chicago is committed to sustainability through its mission, curriculum and built infrastructure. 

Join staff and students from Loyola, Argonne Labs, SCB Architects and Elara Engineering as they present the process for developing two low-energy, net-zero ready buildings.  Cuneo Hall provides high-performance energy footprint and cutting-edge learning environment in a traditional-looking building.  Dumbach Hall is a 100 year old building that allowed students to identify energy retrofit opportunities through a Department of Energy grant.


Building features covered will include:

  • High-performance exterior enclosure
  • Daylight harvesting and smart lighting
  • High efficiency mechanical, electrical and plumbing including heat-recovery
  • Passive ventilation through stack-effect and room by room user interface
  • Building automation information kiosk
  • Server-room heat recapture and seasonal cooling system
  • Net-zero ready infrastructure

Audience:
This presentation will be highly relevant for architects, engineers and facilities managers, especially those involved in educational facilities, those retrofitting historic structures and those building new traditionally-appearing high-performance buildings.

Continuing Education:
