GPRO Fundamentals of Building Green + Construction Management

GPRO: Green Professional Building Skills Training, is a series of courses and certificate exams that teach the people who build, renovate, and maintain buildings the principles of sustainability combined with trade-specific green construction knowledge. GPRO Certificate Holders are positioned to meet the expectations of owners and tenants who want healthier, environmentally sustainable, and energy-efficient homes and offices.

The principal assumption is that participants already know their trade and this course will give them the additional knowledge they may not have experienced on conventionally-built projects.

Each candidate takes a 4-hour course in Fundamentals of Building Green, which presents the basic issues related to sustainability and green building. The candidate then takes a 6-8 hour trade-specific course (Construction Management) followed  by a 50-question multiple-choice exam.  Upon passing the exam, the candidate becomes a GPRO Certificate Holder.  A GPRO certificate demonstrates that an individual understands green building as it applies to his or her trade and enhances that person’s ability to compete for and participate in green jobs.

Who Should Take This Course?
The GPRO training program is designed for experienced building professionals who seek to integrate green practices into the core knowledge of his or trade. To successfully participate in the class and pass the certificate exam, individuals should have construction experience such as: CM or GC site superintendent, project manager, project engineer/clerk, sustainability manager, trade foreperson, facilities manager, building owner, owner’s representative, project architect, professional engineer, or commissioning agent.

GPRO Fundamentals of Building Green

This course teaches the basics of sustainability and the essential strategies and work practices that make buildings green. The program materials and exam cover the “green gap” between standard trade skills and the new awareness and skills required to successfully implement green building. Individuals with experience in construction and building operations will have an advantage when taking Fundamentals of Building Green and in passing the certificate exam, but anyone with an interest in green building is encouraged to participate.

GPRO Construction Management
