Join the USGBC-Illinois Chicago Branch for a presentation of the “Lincoln Hall Windows Research Report – A Case Study of Options for Treatment for Windows at Lincoln Hall University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. (Earn 1.5 hrs GBCI hours and 1.0 AIA LU Hour)

The presentation will utilize a study performed for the Illinois Capital Development Board that ascertained the capital, operational and maintenance costs of decisions regarding existing historic windows. Using the criteria developed in the study, other projects will be illustrated to show the application of the data to non-historic windows.  In the study, three options were assessed: to restore, to replace or to add a storm window. The option review criteria included: U-value, air infiltration, embodied energy, landfill diversion, differential durability, life cycle costs including energy costs, capital costs, maintenance costs, and historic considerations. The study was based on a building that is being renovated to achieve LEED Gold Certification.
