Passive building is a design methodology defined by a set of principles that prioritize energy conservation and best practices. The principles can be applied to all building typologies -- from single-family homes to multi-family apartment buildings, offices, skyscrapers to achieve lower energy use, specifically lower space conditioning loads. These strategies also produce non-energy related benefits such as comfort, improved indoor air quality, durability, and resilience.

This workshop covers the background on passive building as well as the key pillars of the PHIUS+ Certification Standard, how those were developed, and a snapshot of PHIUS+ Certification which is a cost-optimized and quality-assured passive building certification program.
