Philadelphia’s housing organizations are developing new innovative approaches to drive down household energy use, make homes safer and healthier, and make them more resilient. PEA, the Centennial Parkside Community Development Corporation, and the Energy Coordinating Agency are finding ways to bring resources together to make high-impact retrofits to homes for low- and moderate-income (LMI) households in Philadelphia. The Weatherization, Rehab and Asset Preservation, and EnergyFit programs successfully provided holistic housing improvements to whole blocks of homes throughout the City of Philadelphia between 2003 and 2015. The Solar Savings Grant Program is enrolling LMI homeowners now to receive rooftop solar installations at no upfront cost. Built to Last is a new Initiative to coordinate the existing home improvement programs in Philadelphia, layering their services together for deeper impacts.

The presenters will discuss this range of initiatives to retrofit Philadelphia’s existing housing into healthier and more affordable places to live.
