Illinois ASHRAE invites USGBC Illinois Chapter Members to join in a lunch meeting on ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 189-2009 on June 14 @ The Metropolitan Club!

ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 189.1-2009 provides minimum requirements for the planning, design, construction of non-residential high-performance green buildings. It gives criteria for new buildings and their systems, new portions of buildings and their systems, and new systems and equipment in existing buildings. The standard also addresses site sustainability, water use efficiency, energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and the building's impact on natural resources and the environment.

Our presenter is Richard D. Hermans, PE HFDP, director of training and advance applications for McQuay International. At McQuay International, Mr. Hermans led the successful launch of Energy Analyzer II, a comprehensive energy analysis software package to assist McQuay sales. He is currently working on preparation of extensive training materials for the Daikin McQuay Learning Institute.

Mr. Hermans is very active in ASHRAE, where he has written and edited papers and design handbooks on health care facility design. He is a member of ASHRAE TC 9.8, GPC 1.4, TC 9.6 and is chairman of the Existing Building Energy Standard SPC-100R. He is a past chairman of the ASHRAE Standards Committee and a past director at large on the Board of Directors. Among his published works is a presentation on the effects of health care facility ventilation design on the transmission of airborne infectious diseases such as tuberculosis for the Center for Disease Control in Cincinnati. Mr. Hermans serves on the Facilities Guidelines Institute Steering Committee which is responsible for the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Healthcare Facilities.

The cost for this event is $35 per person. Business attire is requested.
