Join the USGBC Illinois Chapter's Chicago Branch for an in-person webinar on LEED and Historic Preservation on August 26 @ 12:00 and earn 1.5 BD+C or O+M LEED Specific GBCI CE hours!

The Illinois Chapter has purchased a subscription to offer USGBC's archived webinars in group settings in order to offer LEED Specific credential maintenance opportunities to our members. One friday each month, you will have the opportunity to earn 1.5 LEED Specific hours at one of these in-person webinar viewings.

BD+C 256: LEED and Historic Preservation
As efforts are taken to renovate and maintain the existing building stock to LEED standards, buildings designated as historically significant properties can present additional obstacles, as extra care is needed to retain their integrity. However, both LEED and the field of historic preservation provide a structure for overcoming these challenges and successfully implementing such projects. Join as USGBC and experts from the field share first-hand experience in tackling these unique efforts.

Learning Objectives
  • Outline how the LEED rating system and specific credits relate to historic preservation projects
  • Relate commonly used historic preservation tools and practices to strategies for achieving LEED certification
  • Identify common misconceptions and pitfalls, as well as best practices for applying LEED to renovation of historic properties
  • Compare and contrast differenthistoric projects and determine when it is appropriate to use New Construction vs. Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenancerating system
