Join the USGBC - Illinois Chapter's Chicago Branch for an education program and discussion about Integrative Design on June 2!

Continuing Education: 1.5 GBCI CE hours and AIA SD/HSW units

The integrative (or integrated) design process is often discussed, but seldom used to full potential.  As we strive toward the design of more and more efficient and sustainable buildings, this process becomes more important as it is the only way to ensure that synergies among systems are identified and utilized.  In this presentation, we will discuss the integrative design process as described in the Integrative Process Standard for Design and Construction of Sustainable Buildings and Communities, an ANSI Standard Guide and how to achieve the potential future LEED credit on Integrated Process.  Participants will experience and participate in a sample initial goal setting eco-charrette, which is a key element of the integrative design process.

The program is geared toward architects, engineers, owners, developers and anyone else involved in the design and development of green building projects.

At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Explain the integrative design process, including its benefits in the design and development of high performance buildings.
  • Describe the key elements of the integrative design process and the shifts required when compared to conventional practice.
  • Make a case for designing/developing high performance buildings and using an integrative design process.
  • Identify tools for implementing an integrative design process.
