This event was originally scheduled for June 28th, we hope you can join us on this new date.

Join the USGBC - Illinois Chapter's, Rockford/Northern Illinois Branch for a program in Woodstock geared to our professional and consumer residential audience; Building Green Homes on a Budget.  This event also features a private residence tour which is registered under the LEED for Homes certification system.

In the education session, practical strategies for building an affordable green home that meets LEED for Homes certification will be explained, and then applied to case studies relevant to the local market. Common myths regarding level of documentation, cost, and credit requirements will be dispelled, showing how a LEED‐certified home can be built affordably. Case studies including strategies and cost data of LEED for Homes projects in Illinois, will be presented.

The private home which we will be touring, has been under construction for just over one year. The owner will explain the LEED Scorecard for the house, share the budget and technologies used within the home to achieve LEED Silver certification. The house is a gut & rehab format. (Although the home is safe to tour, heeled shoes are prohibited.)
