Join IIDA Illinois and USGBC Illinois' Central IL Branch to learn about the environmental impact of using a textile made completely out of recycled plastic bottles and how products like these can contribute toward LEED credits. Consumers are expecting designers to have a greater knowledge of environmentally friendly products. Many companies have launched more environmentally friendly textile options and with that there are many more choices in the market. This course will provide designers the information needed to educate their clients on the environmental impact of using plastic bottle textiles; how specifying these textiles can contribute to LEED points; and how to comply with client needs and demands in regards to green and environmental friendly products.

Continuing Education: 1.0 GBCI CE hours and .1 IIDA/NCIDQ units

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the environmental impact of using a textiles made completely out of recycled plastic bottles.
  • Assess how to select product by specification which will contribute for LEED credits.
  • Explore the manufacturing processes involved with turning plastic bottles into fabrics
  • Explore how utilizing these environmentally friendly textiles keep consumer waste from landfills
  • Define information needed to educate client on the importance of using a post consumer recycled product.

Presenter:
Anni Bebie has represented upscale hospitality vendors since 2007. She has been given high marks in the Midwest - Missouri and Kansas - with her fabulous product lines and personal service. She worked previously as an interior designer on residential, commercial and hospitality projects, gaining abundant experience in designing, presenting, ordering and supervising installations.
