Join the USGBC-Illinois Chapter, Rockford/Northern Illinois Branch for an Introduction to LEED 2009, learn What's New in LED Lighting and hear about the great Programming Planned for 2011!

The evening will start with 45 minutes of Networking (including refreshments) prior to the presentation. The Branch Steering Committee is looking forward to networking with new and existing members to informally discuss sustainable topics in the region.

The presentation will begin with an introduction to LEED 2009, which will be at a basic level, for those who want to understand sustainable building from a USGBC and LEED perspective. We will then discuss additions and changes that occurred in 2010 (LEED for Retail, LEED for Neighborhood Development, LEED Volume Program) and what will be new in  2011 (LEED for Health Care).  Additionally, information will be shared about study sessions for the LEED Green Associate (taking place in Rockford in January), additional study sessions planned by the Chapter, and review the programming planned for 2011. We will have time for Q&A regarding LEED 2009 and other topics attendees are interested in learning more about.

The second part of the evening presentation will be an overview of LED lighting, new items introduced at Greenbuild, and what can be expected in the marketplace this year. We will also discuss which LEED points can be impacted by the electrical industry.

Speakers:
Nada El-Zein, PhD with LED Light Energy will present a short Educational Program on LED Lighting.
Tom Steiner, with Steiner Electric will discuss what is happening with lighting in the current market.

Samples of LED Lighting will be available to view.

Appetizers and a cash bar will be provided along with a calendar of events for both the Illinois Chapter and the Rockford/Northern Illinois Branch (so you can plan your calendar for the whole year!)

A membership table will also be available for those who want to become new members or renew their membership before the February 1, 2011 deadline when membership fees increase.

Our Branch members are knowledgeable and great fun; come and learn how you can contribute to building a better world for future generations.

Thank you to our Program Sponsor at the Elm Level:
