Join USGBC-Illinois as we discuss how cities and communities in Illinois are working to become smarter!  This program will take an in depth look at how cities are using the interaction between technology, infrastructure, information, and policy to manage data and how this data can be utilized to create sustainable, healthier, smarter communities in Illinois. Learning from those working in and with the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago, we will understand the strategies and technologies currently being implemented and adopted to create smart cities.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Joseph Svachula, Vice President of Smart Grid and Technology at Commonwealth Edison. The panel will include the following leaders who will share their insight and vision for smart cities:

  • Hardik Bhatt, Secretary Designate, Department of Innovation and Technology, State of Illinois
  • Tom Schenk, Chief Data Officer, Department of Innovation and Technology, City of Chicago
  • Steven Fifita, Executive Director, Citi Digital
