Join USGBC-Illinois for the upcoming webinar, Optimization of commercial building systems: technologies, practices and strategies, and earn 1.0 CE hour toward your LEED AP or LEED Green Associate credential.

Do you understand what it takes to rein in energy use in commercial buildings? It makes sense to focus on the three big energy end uses: heating, cooling and lighting. We’ll explore all three during this webinar. Tools, practices and technologies will be shared and energy management strategies, as well as VFD and LED retrofits will be discussed.

Operational practices, often the lowest cost energy conservation measures, can provide significant returns in energy and dollar savings. Efficient scheduling and sensor error remediation can produce results with very little investment. We’ll discuss these and other operational adjustments, as well as the optimization of airside economizers, lighting controls, ventilation systems for indoor air quality and supply fan controls. You’ll learn methods for testing and evaluating existing HVAC and lighting systems such as staff and occupant interviews, onsite observations, spot measurements and more. Find out what tools, energy management strategies and practices, and technologies result in energy savings, as well as improved occupant comfort, productivity and indoor air quality.

This session is for building owners, facility managers and engineers, maintenance personnel, energy managers, building operators, contractors, energy efficiency specialists and anyone interested in procuring or providing energy efficiency services.

After this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the resources available for tracking building performance.
  • Describe examples of HVAC and lighting operational practices that can lead to improved performance.
  • Discuss methods for testing and evaluating HVAC and lighting system performance.
  • Describe energy management considerations related to occupant comfort and indoor air quality.

This presentation is a recording of a live event from Energy Center of Wisconsin on May 21, 2014. The session is approved for 1.0 GBCI hours.
